Before being a part of a software engineering class, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It is an interest of mine to work in software development, and web/application design. I hope to become a software engineer in being able to create computer software and specializing in computers. For my future self, I do expect myself to be working in either field. To achieve my goal, the material I will learn in software engineering will prepare me to gain the experiences, and expand my perspective on what I’m capable of doing as an Information and Computer Sciences student.
As I progress throughout my software engineering class, I hope to learn as many skills as I can. One of my skills I want to develop in this class is to be proficient and improve my problem-solving skills in programming. Taking my time to learn and understand the concepts covered in class will be essential for me in order to succeed in the class and even in my future. Another skill I hope to develop in software engineering is to expand my professional portfolio. I can gain this skill by increasing my experiences in software engineering. I also have the opportunity to make and create projects of my own. Overall, as I advance my skills in software engineering, the projects I create can demonstrate my knowledge and creativity.
The experiences I hope to develop in the future is working and meeting other students with similar interests. I will be able to gain the experience of working on projects in a team-setting and have the ability to have consensus with one another. With this experience, it will also help me gain the skill of networking with others, and working with as much people as I can.
Taking a software engineering class will be beneficial to me as a student and towards my ambition in becoming a software developer. The skills and experiences I develop from the class will expand my perspective on software development, and what I’m capable of.
